Spring Carnival

The PTO Spring Carnival was a success!! We made about $1500, not too bad for a 2 hour event. The biggest money maker was the throw a pie in a teacher/adminstrators face... the kids LOVED it, I think the teachers had a really good time too, the custodian... had a sticky mess. We also had a raffle with a lot of different prizes donated by area buisness. The resturants in town, the BP gas station, drug store, grocery store, hardware store, Cris' hair salon and then we had somebody donate a boys and girls bikes with helmets. Both of my boys won a semi truck from the BP, Brad's been bugging me about wanting one for years.. and Ryan also won a reindeer webkins, he sat at the computer as soon as we got home to register it and play with it. They had a great time!! As did everyone else. We (the PTO board) decided we are going to start planning next years carnival now. If you plan far enough ahead, we can get a lot more donations from the bigger corporations... Meijer, Target, Walmart... places in Holland. Maybe get some bigger prizes, geared towards some of the older kids, basketball hoop, games, ect. We had a lot of prizes left from this year and last year, so next year, we shouldn't have to buy very many prizes.... more profit! We've been working hard to make money to enhance the new very small boring playground. It is something that will last for years and years! It's just tens of thousands of dollars to add anything..

We have a beautiful clear blue sky and it's a balmy 24 degrees this morning with a wind chill of 18, I hear it's supposed to get to 48 today! Doug got up and went to work this morning for awhile, the kids are still sleeping and I've already cleaned out the fridge so I think I will take my shower and get on with laundry and some light cleaning, since I did major cleaning on Thursday..
