Well, Brad is getting a little better, I still had some issues the end of the week, and he still went to Saturday school, but only for an hour. He has figured out I'm in contact with his teachers, so he shouldn't try to hide things! I caught him in a math lie, told me he did it and turned it in, until I said I was going to email his math teacher, then he confessed and went and did it, funny thing, I got an email at the same time from his math teacher saying it needed to be done by the next day. His Language Arts and Science were all caught up and current, and he still had Social studies to do.. but # 1 he "forgot" to stay after on Thursday, although we talked about it everyday and if he had, he wouldn't of needed Saturday school and #2 said his teacher was "too busy" to give him the paper he needed. His social studies teacher is his academic coach, so we email daily. The next day she handed him the paper he needed... before she got to busy.. she said he looked like the cat that swallowed the canary... he was busted, and he knew it. So with Saturday school he was down for Language Arts and not Social studies, so his principal said he was very responsible knowing what needed to be done... that made him feel good. Now he is current... The 6th graders are also now reading THE CAY so I received a copy also so I can read it. Bradley said they have read through chapter 2, so have I , so we discussed what he's read so far, he enjoyed that , so did I. I'm hoping we're making progress. Thank you for all the great advice!! This parenting of a pre-teen is tough!
Brad and I are also very excited about out trip to Arizona. I talked to Laura yesterday and she thinks we should leave really early on Monday and go on a road trip for the day. We are going to go to the Grand Canyon, depending on gas prices anyway...
I have borrowed a portable DVD player with 2 headphone plugs so we'll have entertainment on the plane and during our layover in Salt Lake City.
