Back to reality

It's back to work today. I actually worked on Friday and yesterday, but it's totally different when there is nobody else there! It's nice and quiet!!
It's also going to be another beautiful day, we've had a great stretch of weather. Ryan said to me the other day that while I was gone, it was cold and rainy and then I came home and it's been warm and sunny. I said I tried to pack the good weather and bring it home. We're supposed to have a high of 76 today ( prob not right here near the lake shore) Yesterday was right around 70 which was great since I'm riding my bike to work. My way to go green ( or maybe because Doug's car isn't fixed yet.) But gosh, it only takes me about 8 minutes to get to work on bike, so why wouldn't I ride it. Great exercise and uses no gas and no pollution, so maybe I'll do this until the weather gets nasty again, even if/when the car is fixed. With only an 8 minute ride, I could still go home for lunch.

We're home!

Me & Bradley getting some pool time, I had to hold him in place to get a picture, he kept swimming away! A really nice lady from New York took our picture, this was the day before we were to leave, she was leaving that night.

Here we are in Old Town Scottsdale.

Our flight out of Detroit was a bumpy one, tornado watches and storms all around us, we got out of town just in time. After about an hour, we smoothed out. Our flight back in to Detroit was a bumpy one, very windy. The thing about me is, I don't like to fly. I broke out in a cold sweat after booking our flights when I realized, I was going to have to fly... But, I put on my brave happy face for the flight.
The weather while we were there was sunny and in the mid 90's.. in other words, BEAUTIFUL!!!
We went to the Hall of Flame, Fire truck museum, and the Phoenix Zoo and the Arizona Science center, where they had a Titanic exhibit. We had a really good time, just needed a couple more days for more pool time!!

Big day

Well, tomorrow is the big day, the day Bradley and I leave for Phoenix.. I am a nervous wreck, all the while trying not to show it to Bradley. I feel guilty for leaving Doug & Ryan for so long.. Ryan is a HUGE mamma's boy and it's not going to be easy dropping him off tomorrow. I'm teary eyed just thinking about it now. I bought them groceries, Doug has a full tank of gas and I will leave some money so they can do something fun this weekend.
I think I have the packing pretty much under control, just stuff I have to use in the morning yet. Camera is packed, DVD player, Ipods, movies... word search puzzles ( and my glasses) and books to read. I hope I don't forget anything!! I also hope we have a VERY safe, smooth ride!

It must be Spring

We had some pretty strong storms go through here last night, it must be spring! Surprisingly, the kids didn't hear a thing! Plainwell has damage in the area, NWS is going to check out the damage and see if it was a micro burst or a tornado. The lightening was so bright and the thunder so load, it woke me up. Today is supposed to be near 50 and partly sunny. Tomorrow a chance of T-storms in the afternoon and the same for Friday highs near 50... I'm hoping it's not storming in Detroit!! I don't want to fly in a storm!! yikes!
I am getting a little nervous and excited! I have so much to do before we go. We plan to leave around 11 am Friday morning. I have laundry under control. I have to buy groceries for Doug & Ryan and I have to clean the house, and then I have to pack. I have my e-tickets ready, directions and coupon to the parking place. I have cooked meals that I can freeze, so Doug can just thaw, warm and eat also to make life easier for him.
Speaking of cooking, I made a new recipe last night, Burritos, I have never made them before. I think I would use less Enchilada sauce because I thought it was too saucy and it also called for 2 jars of brown gravy and I think I would use one instead. Brad loved them, he said they were the best he's ever had, Doug really liked them too, So I have learned how to cook something besides tacos and nachos! ;-) in the Mexican food category.
Doug's mom starts her chemotherapy today. I really hope she does well. She said they will give her medicine so she doesn't get sick from it... Unfortunately she assumes that she is going to feel great... That worries me a little, I know sooo many people that have gone through chemo ( and this is for stage 4 cancer) that the medicine controls the vomiting.. but it has side effects too that make you sleepy and feel run down as will the chemo. She told Brad she wants his baseball schedule because she plans to go to all his games.. I really hope she does really well and does feel great! it's a great attitude to have. The upside at least for us, she can't drive the next couple of weeks, so we get to use her car, so Doug will have a car while we're gone.
I did find out our plane comes in an hour earlier than I thought, so I was THRILLED with that! Brad and I should be home by 7:00 pm Nice and early so Ryan and Brad can unwind and get to bed on time for school the next day. I have to buy Ryan some kind of "kitty" while we're at the Zoo, so he'll be waiting for it.
I guess I should stop stalling and start getting the house clean so I can do my running tomorrow. I am really dreading leaving Ryan behind, I feel so guilty and he will not make it easy!! Hopefully my tears will stop by the time I get to Detroit.....

Early

Here it is, 6:54 AM on a Saturday morning and I am sitting here posting, because I'm up and already have laundry going. Doug and Bradley are going to a special thing at a Gun Club in Muskegon with the Boy Scouts. They will be helping to set up and work at a M-1 for Vets rifle competition. This program helps to rehabilitate wounded Iraqi war veterans through involvement in the shooting sports. It will also feature a rifle team from the Army & the Marines competing against each other. They will also be leading the Marines, Army and all the Vets in the Pledge of Allegiance, what an honor!! It's also a service project. They have a busy day ahead of them!

Our weather is looking up for Spring Break week, looks like it'll be a beautiful sunny weekend with highs between 62 and 64 today and tomorrow, then for the rest of the week, in the 50's and 60's until Friday when it goes back to the 40's which is fine, because Bradley and I will be flying to Arizona that day.

Speaking of our trip, I've had to rearrange everything, my sister/brother -in-law are now unable to take us to the airport and pick us up... and then my Mother-in-law is unable to babysit. She will be starting Chemo on Wednesday and Ryan will just be too much for her ( this was my decision) So I asked a friend of mine that has a son in 4th grade who also works at the school part time, She said she didn't have anything going on Friday so Ryan could go there when Bradley and I leave for the airport and then she'll take him home after school and when Doug gets home, he just needs to call her and she'll bring him home. How sweet is that!! I bet she'll even have him do his homework. Her son is a diabetic , so I know he wont' be eating a bunch of junk food either!! I'm weird, but I don't trust just anybody to watch my kid, Having Bradley babysit has spoiled me!! The mornings will be different, Doug will drop Ryan off at the Schmucks and Candi will take him to school with her boys. I am really glad I got that worked out. Then with the transportation and parking. My sister in law said I could park at their house and then take a taxi to the airport ( 45 minutes away) and then she could pick us up, but we'd have to wait an hour or so before she could get there. So I emailed my friend Scott to see how close he is to the airport... (30 minutes) and then he told me about park and fly places, that would cost about $45 and they are lit, open 24 hours and secured, plus I have a coupon for a free day, they pick you up at your car and then you ride the shuttle to the airport, then when you get back, you call from a phone near baggage claim, and by the time your luggage is there, so are they and they take you right back to your car. So that is an option and a good one. Scott just had a job interview Friday and if he gets the job he starts right away, if he doesn't we can park at his house and he'll take us and pick us up which would be free. I told him I'd rather he got the job because he really needs it. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed for him. I have rolled change from my piggy banks and turned in receipts to get reimbursed for things I've bought for PTO stuff so I'll get a check on Wednesday, so that will be my spending money for the trip. Bradley has $40 he's taking with him. I've already told him we're not buying food at the airports or on the plane we'll pack snacks. We've got our Ipods loaded and the portable DVD is all charged and ready. We're getting excited!
