Well, our week last week started bad, when we found out that Doug would only have a job until May 16th. REALLY scary!! He found out on Monday April 28th. I spent the next couple days searching the web and ads for a job for him. I found an ad for a body shop tech, ( back to physical labor which he prefers over being a paper pusher) I told him about it, more than once, since I kept getting ignored, I again said Hey look at this job... he gets upset with me, and tells me he'd have to have all this special training ect for that job and then he left to get the boy scout trailer, so I emailed them.... My name is Doug ... I've been a body shop tech for ... blah blah blah.... send... the next day I/ he gets an email back that says they would love to talk to him about thier body shop, so I called him and said stop there before you come home, don't blow it off... so he stopped and talked to them for awhile, they gave him an application and said to get it back to them ASAP, so he filled it out that night and took it back the next morning, a couple hours later, they called and asked when he could come talk to them... he went, they said he'd hear from them Monday ( this was on friday) Monday by 3pm they'd still not called, so he called them, the guy apologized and said he meant to call 3 hours ago, but they've been really busy, and they wanted him to come in again on Tuesday to talk to a couple more guys at 1pm. about 1:30 he called, he got the job, he had to go yesterday for his physical and drug test ( no worries there!) and he started today ( thier 12 hour day) So he is back to doing body work. he will be putting in fewer hours for more money, that's a bonus! he works 8-5 everyday except Thurs. is 8-8.
Update on Doug's first day, he really liked it, it's a really laid back shop, a lot less stress, no paper work, ( except sandpaper) and no dealing with customers!! It was a long day and he was worn out. They get paid by the job, rather than by the hour sort of... if a job says it'll take 12 hours, he gets paid for 12 hours, whether it takes him 3 hours or 20 hours... so you either make $$ or lose money depending on how well you know what your doing.. Doug found out this morning, that he did 42 hours yesterday, the boss was impressed.. me too!!
