Almost Thanksgiving

Hard to believe with the weather we've had, that Thanksgiving is only 2 days away. The kids are off school now until Monday. This will give time for Bradley to catch up on homework he has failed to turn in.. We had conferences with Bradley's teachers tonight. He is doing great in class, but he doesn't seem to like to do homework... Can't imagine where he inherited that... anyway, apparently he's a great kid, he gets involved in class, he reads, he asks questions, he answers questions, we even heard he hangs with a great group of kids.. he also does great on tests and quiz's, except in Math... but he doesn't turn in his work,,, the real kicker, he does it, he just doesn't turn it in!! He seems to lack organization skills , how do we solve that? Doug and I went and when we came home, we showed Bradley what he was missing.. then he got his shoes on, and I took him back to school to get all the assignments, so he could do them over the next 5 days. They all said he is an A student, but just needs to turn in work. He's got some great teachers and he loves middle school. I've actually never seen him so excited about school.
I went to Ryan's conference last night. He's doing great academically, he's already where he should be by the end of 2ND grade, he just has issues with being social at the wrong times and not staying on task and keeping his work space tidy. They are changing the reading groups around, so Ryan will have Mr. Kiel for reading after Christmas. He's really excited.
For Thanksgiving we'll be going to Doug's brothers. I have to take a "cold salad" of some sort.. ho hum... Doug got a 12-13lb turkey from work this year, so that is thawing in the fridge and I am doing the whole Thanksgiving dinner either Friday or Saturday. We will also invite friends over to enjoy it with us. I LOVE making the whole big dinner. It's not Thanksgiving until the house smells like it did when Mom made dinner. Laura told me a few years ago, I make dinner just like Mom did.. I hope so because I have great Thanksgiving memories and I want my boys to have the same!
